Opel Astra: noise coming from the right A-pillar area while driving

26 Apr 2021

A driver of a 2010 Opel Astra was complaining about a strange noise while driving. The problem proved to be familiar to Autodata specialists.

A customer who owns a 2010 Opel Astra complains of a “clicking” noise coming from the area of the right A-pillar while driving. We heard this noise during a test drive, but at the workshop we cannot determine the cause of the fault. Do you know this fault?

Answer: Yes, we’ve already heard the “clicking” sound in the Astra models produced between 2010 and 2012. It is caused by excessive play between the door sill panels. Remove the upholstery from the right front door sill. Partially remove the rubber seal of the front door opening. Apply a protective strip to the indicated area fig.1.1. Using a hammer and a special tool (sheet metal punch), increase the tension in the body joint. Install the rubber seal of the door opening. Install the upholstery to the sill of the front door on the right side. After the repair is completed, a test drive should be performed to see if the fault has been removed.
