Ignition interruption and loss of power in Hyundai Getz
If on a Hyundai Getz 1.1, manufactured between 2003 and 2005, a problem is reported with a lack of spark in the engine and loss of power, as well as the check engine light illuminating, a possible cause is a knocked-out crankshaft pulley.
The following error codes can be stored in the error memory of the “engine” system.
- P0300 “No spark, ignition interruption”.
- P0301 “No spark cylinder 1”.
- P0304 “No spark cylinder 4”.
Due to the possible source of the fault “knocked out crankshaft pulley”, indicating a purely mechanical cause, the timing of the drive can shift and cause spark misses. Accordingly, the manufacturer offers a modified crankshaft pulley and a modified crankshaft bolt. As part of this repair, it is recommended that the timing belt be replaced at the same time.
In addition, the spark plugs, ignition wires and ignition coil should be checked in connection with the stored error codes.
With additional checks, confusing error codes related to the high voltage range can be ruled out, and it is clear that the error codes are related to a purely mechanical fault source.
