BMW Recorded Error Code P302C

In BMW 3 1.6 2012 – 2015, sporadic engine start problems may occur. The error code P302C and/or P0087 “Fuel pressure too low in the high-pressure system” / “High pressure fuel system, fuel pressure, pressure falls below minimum threshold” / “Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too Low” is recorded in the engine control unit’s error memory.

If no direct fault in the fuel system is detected during diagnostics, a faulty fuel pump relay may be the possible cause.

In this case, check the supply voltage directly at the fuel pump using an appropriate measuring device.

To do this, perform the following steps:

  • Expose the connector on the fuel pump
  • Connect the measuring tips to the fuel pump connector on the vehicle side according to the electrical diagram
  • Turn on the ignition and start the engine
  • After starting the engine, there should be at least 12 V voltage at this point
  • If the supply voltage cannot be measured, first replace the fuel pump relay
  • Then repeat the measurement

In this vehicle model, the fuel pump relay is located on the right side behind the side part of the rear seat backrest.

After removing the cause of the fault, clear the error memory and then conduct a test drive.
