Suzuki Vitara: vibrations and a strange noise coming from the rear of the car while driving

Mechanics encountered a strange problem with a Suzuki Vitara vehicle. Autodata specialists present solution to this problem.

One of our customers who has a 2016 Suzuki Vitara is complaining about vibrations and unusual noises from the rear of the vehicle while driving. We visually inspected the undercarriage of the vehicle, but found no defects. We suspect damage to the rear differential, but don’t want to replace it because it is an expensive part. Have you encounter this problem with other Suzuki Vitara owners?

Answer: We have already encountered the above-mentioned fault in Citroën Nemo models. The cause of the vibration and noise is the inadequate design of the rear differential mounting arm. A new rear differential mounting arm and torsional vibration damper can be purchased from Suzuki Parts and are necessary to fix this fault. Remove and dispose of the rear differential mounting arm. Insert the torsional vibration damper onto the new rear differential mounting arm and tighten the mounting nut with the correct tightening torque of 18-28 Nm (fig. 1.1.). Insert the new rear differential mounting arm in reverse order of removal. After the repair is completed, a test drive should be performed to see if the fault has been removed.
