Ford S-MAX: limited operation of the nozzle of the front windscreen washer
Autodata Company runs Autodocta guide, where solutions to common, but difficult to diagnose, automotive problems are presented. This time the problem in question is a malfunction of the windshield washers in the Ford S-MAX.
As part of our shop’s review, there is owner of a 2015 Ford S-Max whose is complaining about an issue with the accuracy of the windshield washer nozzle. The outlet end of the windshield washer nozzle cannot be adjusted, so we installed a new windshield washer nozzle, but the problem persists. Have you heard of this problem before?
Answer: Yes, we have encountered this problem before, occurring in S-MAX models. The malfunction is caused by improper alignment of the windshield washer nozzle. Partially remove the windshield fairing to access the windshield washer nozzle. Unhook the windshield washer nozzle, but leave it in the installation position. Cut the foam pad, available at Ford Parts, into 10mm lengths. Install a foam pad between the back of the windshield washer nozzle and the windshield fairing (fig. 1.1.). Install the windshield washer nozzle and windshield deflector. Remove excess foam pad. After the repair is complete, check the operation of the windshield washer system to ensure that the fault has been corrected.
